Get your craft on: Super + Super bake-off

The cakes arranged in the Super+Super window, ready for judging
It's actually been a couple of weeks since the Super + Super bake-off, I left for my holiday almost immediately after, but the event was so great I wanted to post a little write up here - better late than never!

The summer bake-off was organised by Laura at Little Button Diaries and hosted by Super + Super on Sunday 8th September in aid of local Brighton children's charity Rockinghorse. I was recruited as one of three judges - it was so lovely to spend an afternoon eating cake made by other people for once!

Entrants were scored based on appearance, texture and taste and the cumulative tally from all judges across categories was used to decide the winners. I was impressed by the diversity of flavours submitted - no two entrants were the same and all of the contestants had worked hard to create beautiful cakes with imaginative flavour combinations. From chocolate orange and avacado, to parsnip & pecan we had a lot of tempting flavours to enjoy - with so many of the cakes, one mouthful just wasn't enough.

Here are a few photos from the afternoon:

Well done to everyone who entered, I've heard since that the money raised was enough to provide massage therapy sessions for two children with cystic fibrosis - an excellent result!
