Baking for a cause: Tarts for Troops - Blind Veterans UK

Baking for a cause: Tarts for Troops for Blind Veterans UK
I was recently contacted by Blind Veterans UK about their Tarts for Troops campaign. In addition to LOVING the name of this event, I think it's a worthy cause -  an appeal for amateur bakers across the country to get out their rolling pins and bake and sell tarts, between 29th June and 5th July this year, raising money for blind veterans. Their recommendations include having a bake-off with friends, holding a 'tarts and tea' party, bringing tarts to work for your morning coffee break - and my favourite - having friends over for a gourmet tart dinner party! Imagine a three course tart dinner? Amazing!

The Tarts for Troops website is full of recipes and recommendations - and you can register your event to make it official. The charity makes setting up your own event easy with a useful page of tips and an organisers pack available for download.

The Tarts for Troops campaign starts on Armed Forces Day (Saturday 29th June) and runs until 5th July - so raise some money for a worthy cause and get baking :)

There's tonnes of recipe inspiration on the Blind Veteran's UK website, or you can check out my goats cheese, caramelised red onion and squash tart recipe for a savoury option that's bound to go down a treat. If you have a sweet tooth, you might like to try my chocolate custard and strawberry tart :)
