|Mary Berry's cheese scone round, as baked by EJ|
I love cheese scones, (if you've had a scroll through my blog you may have found my favourite cheese scone recipe) they are literally the easiest thing in the world to bake and take no time at all. So I was really excited to discover a cheese scone recipe in Mary Berry's Baking Bible. Mary Berry makes a cheese scone round instead of individual scones- which is basically like one giant cheese scone! The baking time is slightly longer than with individual scones, but the preparation time is significantly shorter.
After preparing the mixture you shape the dough into one round and then score it into six wedges- as with my own cheese scone recipe I recommend eating Mary Berry's cheese scone round pretty much as soon as it comes out of the oven, while it's still hot and doughy. The recipe creates six generous wedges- great with a hearty soup or on it's own. I'd usually always go for mini individual scones, having always felt that the smaller ones somehow taste better, but there's just something about a massive wedge of cheese scone that is totally appealing. Looks like my favourite cheese scone recipe has competition.....
